Romans Consentrated with John Piper

In 5 messages, John Piper takes a condensed look at Paul’s argument in chapters 9 through 11 in which he assures that Israel will be saved. These chapters lead us into the doctrines of grace, particularly focusing on God’s electing work in salvation. Piper deals with this text in one of the most helpful, pastoral and direct ways I’ve heard. He even raises the possibility that it was out of God’s anger with Israel that God extended salvation to the Gentiles.

Piper also relates his difficulty as a seminary student with God’s sovereignty and elective will which caused his world to collapse around him.

S. Lewis Johnson Eschatology studies

John MacArthur’s recent Shepherd’s conference message has spawned a great deal of controversy in reformed circles. His message ‘Why Every Self-Respecting Calvinist is a Premillennialist’ has easily been the most discussed conference session this year. On this blog it is the most visited and commented post, though I don’t post debates on this site. In light of the interest in this subject, here are a series of sermons I think may be helpful for those wrestling with the premillennial position.

S. Lewis Johnson provides an intelligent and thorough series on premillennial eschatology in 37 messages. He begins the series with 5 messages examining the amillennial, postmillennial and premillennial perspectives. The next 14 messages examine the Biblical covenants in great expositional detail. The remaining 16 messages detail the Second Coming, the Tribulation, the Kingdom age, and the Final Judgment. S. Lewis Johnson is well known for his careful exegetical handling of the Word of God.

Arnold Fruchtenbaum on Prophecy as it relates of Israel, the Second Coming, and the Arab States

Arnold Fruchtenbaum is a Jewish Christian who has written many theological books from an informed Jewish perspective, particularly focusing on prophecy.  He has written the meaty books ‘Israelology: The Missing Link in Systematic Theology’ , ‘ The Footsteps of the Messiah: A Study in the Sequence of Prophetic Events,’ and ‘Messianic Christology’.  In case you haven’t figured it out from the book titles, Fruchtenbaum is premil.

These audio messages were delivered by Fruchtenbaum in English, but translated into German in tandem, which gets old quick. But the material is worth the attention you must give to it.
