Where Have All the Men Gone? Conversation Between Al Mohler and Kay Hymowitz
Al Mohler invites Kay Hymowitz to his podcast to talk about the problem society faces today of boys taking much longer to grow into manhood. Hymowitz has recently published a new book titled, Manning Up: How the Rise of Women is Turning Men into Boys. She identifies many males in their twenties and thirties as “child men.”
Mohler introduces his podcast:
Something is happening when it comes to young men in America and for that matter around the world. It might be better stated as something is not happening. What is not happening is that boys are not moving into manhood at anything like what we might describe as on schedule. Instead we’ve entered a new very, very troubling period in American life in which the transition from boyhood to manhood is anything but clear and in many cases anything but happening.
Kay Hymowitz is the William E. Simon Fellow at the Manhattan Institute one of the nation’s most important think tanks. She’s also a contributing editor of City Journal. She writes extensively on issues including childhood, family issues, poverty, and cultural change in America.

We Will Not Bow: John MacArthur
MacArthur’s sermon from this past Sunday was a look at the continued moral deterioration of the United States fueled by the Supreme Court. In this message he talks about his perception of the nation’s situation before God and then directs his attention to 2 Thessalonians 1. In his introduction he said this:
The two greatest attacks of terror on America were perpetrated by the Supreme Court. Not by any Muslim, but by the Supreme Court of the United States. The first one was the legalizing of abortion. Subsequent to that, there have been millions of babies slaughtered in the wombs of their mothers. It’s incalculable to even comprehend that. The blood of those lives cries out from the ground for divine vengeance on this nation.
The second great act of terror perpetrated by the Supreme Court was the legalization of same-sex marriage. The destruction of human life in the womb—in a sense, the destruction of motherhood—and now the destruction of the family itself. No bomb, no explosion, no attack, and no assault on people physically can come anywhere near that kind of terrorism. Our country is being terrorized by the people most responsible to protect it—those who are to uphold the law.
Just a few comments beyond that. No human court has the authority to redefine morality. But this human court has said murder is not murder; and marriage is not marriage; and family is not family. They have usurped the authority that belongs only to God, who is the creator of life, marriage, and family.
SBC Presidents Panel “The Supreme Court and Same-Sex Marriage: Preparing Our Churches”
At this year’s Southern Baptist Annual Meeting Ronnie Floyd led the President’s Panel on the same-sex marriage issue. The speakers on this panel were Al Mohler, Russell Moore, Matt Carter, Ryan Blackwell and Dr. Rosaria Butterfield who came to faith out of the LGBT community. This was one of the most helpful, biblical, level-headed, Gospel-oriented discussions I’ve seen among evangelicals about this volatile issue that sees many Christians sliding into anger on one side, or Gospel-emptying acquiescence on the other.
