Without a doubt, one of the most talked about, blogged about messages in the past two years was given by John MacArthur at the 2007 Shepherd’s Conference. Maybe you remember it.
When I wrote a post about this message I fielded numerous comments that attempted to begin a heated debate within my comment section. No other post has generated such a strong interest in debate. None of these comments were published because FBH is not designed to be a forum for debate.
Two years later, that original post continues to be the second most trafficked post on this site to this day, and as I listen to many interviews and discussions, others continue to reference MacArthur’s message, both for good and for ill.
My intent in bringing attention to this message again is not to stir up controversy, or to assert my posture for or against. In the foment following the Shepherd’s conference there were an abundance of scathing attacks against MacArthur by people who did not hear the message and would not pay the $3 to download it.
The Shepherd Conference message is still available for a fee. However, now that the MacArthur vaults at Grace to You are open for free, you can download MacArthur’s 3 Sunday sermons by a less-than-insinuating title that developed into the Shepherd’s Conference message. So if you missed the Shepherd’s conference message, you can now listen to a much longer examination of the same subject.

John Barnett’s ministry Discover the Book is a wonderful and expansive resource for the church and the MP3 revolution. The website contains hundreds of John’s sermons and study series that he’s preached over the years at Tulsa Bible Church in Oklahoma. All the downloads are free. Barnett is a gifted and godly expositor of God’s Word.
Living Hope for the End of Days is a 52 message journey through the book of Revelation, and a companion book has been published as a one year devotional. It’s a series that Barnett says is the result of a lifetime of study through Revelation.
I have not listened to all the messages in this series, as of yet, but I have been blessed by what few I have. There is also a large companion book divided into a year-long daily devotional based on the same material, which is also an excellent resource which I highly recommend. This is a richly rewarding series that will help you see Christ exalted throughout the book of Revelation.

John MacArthur’s recent Shepherd’s conference message has spawned a great deal of controversy in reformed circles. His message ‘Why Every Self-Respecting Calvinist is a Premillennialist’ has easily been the most discussed conference session this year. On this blog it is the most visited and commented post, though I don’t post debates on this site. In light of the interest in this subject, here are a series of sermons I think may be helpful for those wrestling with the premillennial position.
S. Lewis Johnson provides an intelligent and thorough series on premillennial eschatology in 37 messages. He begins the series with 5 messages examining the amillennial, postmillennial and premillennial perspectives. The next 14 messages examine the Biblical covenants in great expositional detail. The remaining 16 messages detail the Second Coming, the Tribulation, the Kingdom age, and the Final Judgment. S. Lewis Johnson is well known for his careful exegetical handling of the Word of God.

D. A. Carson is one of my favorite theologians. He nails the tough issues and is accessible to the non-academic scholar (unless, of course, you’re reading ‘Justification and Varigated Nomism’). Here he examines eschatology in a broad sweep of key points in Revelation.
The Doctrine of Last Things – Part 1
Vision of A Transcendant God (Revelation 4)
The Doctrine of Last Things – Part 2
Vision of A Redeeming God (Revelation 5)

The Doctrine of Last Things – Part 5
Triumph of the Lamb – All Hail the Lamb (Revelation 21)
In his series on Eschatology, S. Lewis Johnson analysizes and explains the variety of perspectives on the Millennium. If you’ve never had a clear understanding of the differences between premillennial, amillennial and post millennial views, these sermons will help you gain clarity.

Systems of Eschatology: The Amillennial System I
Systems of Eschatology: The Amillennial System II
The Biblical Analysis of Amillennialism
The Premillennial System
The Second Coming of Jesus Christ
The great S. Lewis Johnson tackles the weighty subject of the future of Israel as an ethnic, regenerated nation. This is an excellent series of 6 messages.

In the ringing echo of John MacArthur’s Shepherds’ Conference message ‘Why Every Self-Respecting Calvinist is a Premillennialist’, I offer some thoughful MP3 sermons for further reflection (to get the MacArthur message you must register and select 2007 audio, Shepherds Conference General Session #1).
Dwight Pentecost has writtten a significant book on eschatology from the premillenial perspective, ‘Things to Come.‘ Pentecost preached a series of sermons called ‘The Week of Meetings’ about eschatology. Pentecost is a very articulate and knowledgable pre-millennialist and you will find these messages very informative.

Arnold Fruchtenbaum is a Jewish Christian who has written many theological books from an informed Jewish perspective, particularly focusing on prophecy. He has written the meaty books ‘Israelology: The Missing Link in Systematic Theology’ , ‘ The Footsteps of the Messiah: A Study in the Sequence of Prophetic Events,’ and ‘Messianic Christology’. In case you haven’t figured it out from the book titles, Fruchtenbaum is premil.
These audio messages were delivered by Fruchtenbaum in English, but translated into German in tandem, which gets old quick. But the material is worth the attention you must give to it.
